Customizing Your Avon Website
One of the things Avon provides to you as a new Representative is your very own Avon website or Avon Online Store.
As an Avon Representative, you may think that Avon is your primary brand, but actually, that’s not true.
You essentially have three brands: the Avon products, the Avon opportunity, and the most important – YOU! People buy from people who they know, like, and trust.
Having a personal website is the number one most important step you can make to promote your business. You can learn more about that on the Online Marketing page of this blog.
Today we’re going to talk about how to customize your Avon-provided website.
Your Avon website can also be a way your customers can get to know you. You want to make your Avon website to be as professional and filled with your personality as possible.
Your Personal Web Address
The first thing you need to do is get a Domain Name. This is the least expensive piece of Real Estate you can buy.
My Avon website is https://www.avon.com/repstore/lynnhuber but I purchased a web address called http://ShopMyBeautyStore.com which is the web address I give my customers and have on my business cards and on the back of my brochures.
Having your own web address (domain name) makes it look like you really take your business seriously and you intend to be around for a while.
You’d be surprised at how easy it is to create your own domain name. GoDaddy makes it easy to get your own web address.
Right there in the center of the page is a place where you can type in the domain name you’d like to have. Keep in mind that it may take you many tries to find one that isn’t already taken.
Once you find the one you want, you’ll purchase it and then set it up to automatically forward to www.avon.com/repstore/YOURNAME.
For my website, when someone types in http://ShopMyBeautyStore.com, they automatically go to https://www.avon.com/repstore/lynnhuber. VenturaBeauty.com is so much easier to remember, don’t you think? 🙂
If you do this at GoDaddy, go to Manage Domains, click on your domain, and edit DNS. Then set the forwarding to your Avon Representative Website. If you got your domain somewhere else, the process should be pretty similar.
Your Website Appearance
Before people will look at what you have to offer, they will want to connect to you.
As you bring your personality onto the pages of your website, people will learn to know, like, and trust you.
If they know, like, and trust you, they’re more likely to explore your website. They’re more likely to register as your customer and sign up for your newsletter or click your links to your sales and opportunity pages.
Your Avon Representative Website
Avon provides a representative website for you to make it easy to run your business.
Did you just accept the defaults, or have you customized the website to match your personality?
Avon gives you the opportunity to customize your site in many ways. You have the ability to choose the color scheme and add your own picture. I strongly suggest you use a picture of YOU, not the products.
When potential customers see your site without your picture, it sends out the signal that you’re not ‘really there’.
Update the banner that you prefer. And then be sure to customize the “Your Online Store Name,” the “Welcome Message,” the “Introduction Message,” and the “Recommended Products,” pages. It’s okay to let Avon make the recommendations if you choose.
Then be sure to head over to your profile on Avon.com and be sure the “Let Customers & Recruits Find me Online” is checked. And then add a video you want Avon to share to tell Customers more about you. There are other options you can customize there if you would like.
These allow your personality to show through and give your potential customers the chance to get to know you.
Add Your Favorite Products
Update your website to talk about your favorite products. Give tips and advice to keep your readers coming back again and again. This is one place you can really shine if you put some effort into it.
This is your chance to show that you are an expert and are uniquely qualified to help them with their needs.
The best part is you don’t need to be an expert. Doing a little research about your favorite product while writing a little about it can help you learn as you go.
Summary
When a potential customer goes to http://avon.com and clicks on the link to find a Representative, they are given many Representatives to choose from.
Many people scan web pages; they do not necessarily read them. So use small and on-topic paragraphs with lots of blank space to make it easy to read.
Be sure that the punctuation and spelling are checked and that everything looks great.
The more personality your site has and the more they can learn about you, the more likely they are to choose you.
Your story and your personality are the keys to a successful site. And the more you can get your values, your commitment, and your integrity across to your visitor, the better off you will be.
Be the one who stands out!
