Entrepreneur Skills Needed To Build A Wildly Successful Avon Business

Many people, when they start their own Avon business, believe that the most important factor that determines their level of success depends on their own personal experience and skills.

And while skills are critical to your Avon business, luckily you don’t have to have them all developed before you get started.  Most Representatives learn the necessary skills as they go.

Below are some traits you’ll want to develop in yourself that will make all the difference:

Ambition

Sometimes it can be easy to give up when the going gets tough.  But if you have an ambitious nature, you will make it happen.  You want to succeed, and maybe even thrive on reaching small milestones along the way to success.

When you are highly ambitions, you may have an internal drive to work hard and be committed to doing what it takes to make your business a success.

Willingness to Learn

Education is a life-long process.  And in order to be successful in your Avon business, you want to be constantly learning.

More than that, look for the people who are most successful in their Avon business and don’t be afraid to ask for their opinions or advice.

Ability to Listen

Communication is essential to the success of your Avon business.  In order to communicate effectively with your team members and customers, you need to pay attention to others’ motivations, hot buttons, interests and more.

You’ll also want to pay attention to non-verbal cues, such as body language.

Avoid coming off as being self-promotional or vain, and strive to show that you are interested in others and sincerely want to help.

Assertiveness and Confidence

While listening is important, it’s also important to know when you need to take control for yourself.

Listen to others who are making reasonable claims and have good ideas.  Be consistent, yet open minded to earn respect and trust from those around you.

But also know that the ultimate decisions for your business are based on your ideas.  know what you stand for and be willing to stand up for those beliefs.

Perseverance

Your Avon business is so worth it, but it’s not always going to be easy.  Many Avon Representatives, myself included, have suffered devastating defeats and failures.

Rather than look at these events as an end to their business, look at them as important learning moments.

Maintain your optimism and perseverance, but also make calculated changes as to how you will move forward.

Remember, you only fail when you stop trying.  Persistence is probably one of the most important keys to success.

Courage and Risk Taking

In order to harness the power of creativity, you must have the courage to act on your great ideas and plans.

Of course, you’ll want to research your ideas thoroughly before making a change.  But once you have made the decision, have the courage to take that unknown step to try things that are unfamiliar to you.

The Ability to Look Ahead

Build a vision of where you see your Avon business taking you.  Be clear about your end goal, as well as stepping stones and potential obstacles you may come across along the way.

Business Skills are also important.  These are skills that you will want to develop:

Time Management Skills

Work to control your time.  Your calendar can be your most valuable asset.  Work to use your time wisely and avoid wasting time unnecessarily.

Develop your priorities, so that you know where best to spend your available time.

Delegation Skills

Not everything needs to be done by you!  Let go of the things that you can delegate to someone else.

Sometimes, your children or your spouse can help you in your business.  If you can afford it, maybe look into an intern or part time clerk to help you accomplish those things that need to be done but that don’t have to be done by you.

Sales Skills

As an Avon Representative, you are a sales person, so these skills will come in very handy. 🙂

Use the products yourself so that you become a walking, talking commercial.

Take advantage of Avon U to learn everything you can about our products.

Watch Avon USA Representative Facebook page for Facebook Lives and other product training.  Attend the virtual Sales Meetings.  These events will teach you what to say about new products and how best to sell them.

Learn to tell stories.  People love to hear stories about how Avon helped someone else in a similar situation.

Learn to ask for the sale.  Say something like, “How many can I order for you?” or “What color would you like today?

Recruiting Skills

Take advantage of Avon U to learn everything you can about our opportunity and comp plan.

Learn to tell stories.  People love to hear stories about how Avon helped someone else in a similar situation.

Learn to ask for them to sign up.  You can say something like, “Sounds like you’re ready to get started!” or “Let’s get you signed up today.

Follow Up Skills

As you’re building your Avon Business, follow-ups are one of the most important activities you can do.

Take a look at these statistics:

    • 48% of sales people never follow up with a prospect
    • 25% of sales people make a second contact and stop
    • 12% of sales people only make three contacts and stop
    • ONLY 10% of sales people make more than three contacts
    • 2% of sales are made on the first contact
    • 3% of sales are made on the second contact
    • 5% of sales are made on the third contact
    • 10% of sales are made on the fourth contact
    • 80% of sales are made on the fifth to twelfth contact

Interesting statistics, aren’t they?

This shows why follow-up is so important to your business.

In fact, I believe my dedication to follow up alone has made me more successful than 90% of my competition.

In my opinion, becoming an expert in this one skill can make all the difference to your Avon business!

The ability to troubleshoot and overcome obstacles

This is the ability to stay calm under pressure, and work to find solutions when problems arise.

The better you become at figuring out what’s wrong and how to fix it, the easier your success journey will become.

Finding success in any area of your life is rarely a straight and narrow process.

You’ll need to take numerous steps to develop the right combination of skills, traits, and knowledge to have a booming Avon business.

If you focus your attention on nurturing these traits in your own life, you will find better overall success and we’ll see you at the top.

I can’t want to see you standing on stage at Avon RepFest being recognized for all your accomplishments! ❤️
