Simple 5 Step Facebook Live Formula
Live videos get SO much more engagement than any other type of post on Facebook.
This is because they’re authentic, unfiltered, and uncut.
Plus, Live videos are practically irresistible to your audience as they’re scrolling through their News Feed.
But it can feel intimidating to push the “Go Live” button.
Believe me, I know!
I NEVER would have thought that I, a total introvert, would ever do Facebook Live…
But a couple of years ago, I did a training that taught me that I needed to start getting out there with Facebook Lives.
I made the commitment that I would do one every day.
And then for two years, I was able to do a Facebook Live nearly every day.
It wasn’t easy. My mentor told me to talk about me, who I was, and why I would be a good person to work with.
So, I started with that.
In the beginning, I talked about how I left my full-time job, and then even went further back to my childhood, and really talked about who I was.
People loved it. They were seeing me, raw and unfiltered.
But it was hard to come up with what I was going to talk about every single day! That’s a lot of stories.
Eventually, I morphed into more personal development-type subjects because personal development is important to me and I thought it would help others as well.
I would still insert a video about why you want to sell Avon, or what my skin care routine looks like, or I might even feature a product and talk about that.
Over time it quickly became a habit and really no big deal.
So, don’t be shy, get out there and teach what you’re learning, as you’re learning.
The longer you wait and put it off, the harder it gets.
You don’t need to be an expert to get started!
Talk about you and who you are. Tell stories about your life, and even your childhood. You can relate those stories to how they made you a better person, or how they helped you get to where you are today.
Okay, let’s break it down.
Here’s a really simple five-step formula for shooting a Facebook Live videos…
1 – Introduce yourself
Sure, many people who are watching you know you. But there will be plenty of people who come across your video and don’t know who you are.
Or maybe some of your friends will share your video might be introducing you to someone who may not know you yet.
2 – Review what you are going to talk about
This is just a quick, “Today I’m going to talk about…” and it will usually be what you put in the Facebook post.
3 – Engage
This step is easy, yet really important…
Give shout-outs to people who are on or have commented. It’s important to recognize people who take the time to jump on.
Maybe ask a question…
“Hey, where are you watching in from? Let me know. Drop a comment below.”
Make sure your viewers feel that they are important to you.
4 – Deliver your content
This step is whatever you intend to talk about!
This is where you will be or talking about whatever you posted in your Facebook post about what you’re going to talk about.
You can use this to tell your story. Or it can be talking about a product – what you love about it and how to use it.
Another thing you can do is take something you recently learned and then reteaching it in your own words. You can even add your own spin or talk about why it was impactful for you.
5 – Give your Call to Action
Don’t forget this stop. It’s very important.
Tell folks what you would like them to do next. For example, Comment below, click the link, add your thoughts, join etc.
What’s Holding You Back?
I know, any time you think about going live, it can be scary.
In fact, it can literally be downright paralyzing.
I’m an introvert by nature, and really not a good speaker. That’s something I had to get over just to be a Leader in Avon.
But here’s the thing…
People don’t care about the way you look or what’s happening around you.
All they really care about is the connection you are making with them, and the value of the content that you’re sharing with them.
So, you have to get out of your own way and understand that it isn’t about you.
It’s about the people you are connecting with.
You have a voice, and I’m sure you have something that you want to share with your audience.
At the end of the day, you just have to get out of your own way and JUST DO IT!
Take a deep breath, and just go live.
Relax and pat yourself on the back for DOING IT!
Most people won’t so you are WAY ahead of the curve!
