The Best Activities to Grow Your Avon Business

The Best Activities to Grow Your Avon Business

When you first sign up to sell Avon, it can feel like there’s so much to learn.

We feel we need to learn all about the products and the compensation plan.

…Or, how do we build our business on social media, or maybe even wondering if we need a blog.

Maybe we’re watching videos, studying this, and studying that…

And before you know it, you’ve been selling Avon for a month but you haven’t earned any money yet.

Yes, it’s important that we know the products, and learn how to run our business, but those activities are not what is going to bring you an income.

Growing your Avon business is pretty simple.

There are only 4 main steps:

  1. Prospecting for new customers & recruits.
  2. Getting a brochure (either paper or digital) to every customer every campaign.
  3. Following-up with every customer you gave a brochure to every campaign before you place your order.
  4. Take the order, submit it to Avon and deliver to your customer, or send them to your Avon Online Store to place their order

And then Rinse and Repeat.

It’s really that simple. You just do these 4 steps over and over again, and you will have a strong Avon business.

We have our Daily 8 System to help you work on the activities that will help you grow your business.

The Daily 8 system is a proven formula

When followed consistently, the Daily 8 Plan will help you maintain the consistency required to build a thriving team and an exponentially expanding residual income.

Instead of working 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week your goal is to capture 8 POINTS a day, 5 days a week for a total of 40 POINTS per week.

Print this sheet and use it to track your weekly points.

Follow this plan consistently for 90-days and teach your team to do the same. At the end of 90 days, REPEAT and then REPEAT again. This is your Daily Method of operation.

The real secret to your Avon Business success is that there is NO SECRET!

It simply takes a simple plan and the dedication and commitment to WORK THE PLAN consistently! That’s it!

Today We’ll Talk About The Best Activities to Grow your Avon Business

Many of us have lots of things going on in our lives.

We have limited time to work our business.

We have other commitments, like maybe a job or families to care for.

And many Reps come to Avon looking for a flexible way to earn some extra money.

So, it’s very important that we focus on the activities that will make us money.

80% of our time should be spent on Income Producing Activities, and the other 20% should be spent on training and managing our business.

There are plenty of everyday tasks you do for your business that are important.

But does every single thing you do actually generate income? Of course not.

Learning to distinguish between what actually makes you money  – your Income Producing Activities – and what doesn’t is key to maximizing your earning potential.

What are Income Producing Activities?

Income Producing Activities (IPAs) can fall into one of three levels.

Let’s take a look at them.

Level 1 – Generating Revenue

This level includes anything that will bring you new business or help you close existing business.

A lot of people avoid the “new business” aspect of this because, frankly, it’s the toughest part of the job.

Sometimes people are afraid of doing the tough stuff, so they become so busy doing the easy things that they convince themselves they are working their business.

But the easy stuff isn’t where you grow your business.

You have to push yourself outside your comfort zone – that’s where all the action takes place.

In my opinion, this is where you are prospecting for new customers and recruits, actively marketing your business, and follow-up.

Schedule the time in your calendar for when you will actively work your business.

If it’s not scheduled and planned out, it’s not likely to happen.

Schedule Time Slots in your calendar for the days and times you will dedicate to working your business daily, weekly, and monthly.

Highlight those slots and fill them in with business building activities.

Success requires action. Plan specific activities every day that will help you connect with people, move your business forward, and put money in your pocket.

Think about the small pockets of time you have available, as well….

Waiting for your son’s baseball game to start, waiting at the doctor’s office, etc.

You can make the best use of your time by sending a few texts or making a call while you are waiting.

Income Generating Tasks

Generating Revenue tasks would include things such as going out and meeting people, giving them a brochure and getting their contact information so you can follow up… and then actually follow-up.

It could be setting up a table at events to meet people, asking for referrals, or any other methods of meeting new people.

If you are new (and even if you’re not), make a list of everyone you know.

Start with those who are closest to you… family, close friends, etc.

And then start adding other people you know.

These people may be business oriented (who does your hair or nails, who is your insurance salesman, etc.), networking contacts, Facebook friends, LinkedIn friends, other social media friends, the contacts in your phone, your holiday card list, etc.

Your list should be an evolving, living, thriving list.  You will constantly be adding names to it and crossing names off of it.  This is something you should work daily.

For more information about prospecting, read this post here.

The more you do, the faster you will reach your goals.

Carry and share brochures and samples everywhere you go. Make sure your brochures have your contact information, as well as your Avon online store to shop.

Set a goal to connect with 5 people or more every day. Connections lead to relationships that lead to success.

Complete the connection by getting their contact information so you can add them to your contact list.

Follow up within 48 hours to keep your connection fresh and show your interest in them and their needs.

Here are some Conversation Starters to help you:

“Have you seen the New Avon?  We’ve gone through a lot of changes recently. If you’re interested, I’d love to show you some of our best sellers and help you find products that would be great for you.”

“Avon has everything. I really love/am obsessed with (insert your fave Avon product here). Can I give you a sample?”

Be sure to talk about the Avon Income Opportunity as well.

When you invite others to start their own business too, they’re usually flattered, even if they say No.

If they’re not interested, ask for referrals – everyone knows someone who may need extra income or who loves beauty, but they won’t think of it until you ask.

Be bold – you never know whose life you may be changing by your offer.

Here are some Conversation Starters for the Opportunity:

“I love selling Avon. It’s so much fun and doesn’t feel like work — it’s easy talking about products people use every day. I make great money, too. Do you know anyone who might like to do this themselves?”

“Do you know anyone who might be interested in earning extra income? Even if they only have a couple of hours a week?”

Use Avon Social and post on social media regularly.

It’s a fast, super-effective way to build sales and build your team as you share who you are, what you love about Avon, and our latest amazing products.

FOLLOW UP via Phone, Email or Messenger.

Did you know that 90% of your sales occur, because you followed up with someone?

Take the time to follow up through any means that you can. It’s one of the most important activities in your business.

Level 2: Building Relationships

This level includes retaining or maintaining existing relationships and building new ones.

Have frequent get-togethers with friends and ask them to bring new friends you haven’t met yet.

Share your favorite products and enjoy building new relationships that could lead to new customers and new Representatives on your team.

Schedule meet-ups at local cafes or restaurants and bring the newest lipsticks and fragrances for fun sampling and networking.

Schedule about 30 minutes to share brochures and your favorite new products.

During this crazy coronavirus pandemic, you might want to do Zoom meetings or Facebook Lives.

Pick Up The Phone:

  • Call someone you haven’t seen in a while and invite them to coffee or lunch. Get reacquainted.
  • Call someone who does business with you (like your insurance agent or realtor) and set an appointment
  • Call a friend or acquaintance and tell them a little about what you are doing. Offer to bring them a sample, send a video via email or messenger, etc. Just something to get the conversation started.

It might also mean deepening relationships with your current customers either in person, by phone, email, text, or even sending a card in the mail.

It also means to let your customers know about new products coming up that might be on interest to them and getting them samples if possible.

Nurturing relationships with your is a big part of this, as the deeper you go with those relationships, the more you can count on them referring business to you.

Level 3: Saving Time

This is critical to your success.

Implementing Systems and Tools can take the leg work out of many of your tasks so that you can focus on growing your business.

Automating systems and planning ahead is also crucial to saving yourself valuable time.

We have systems to help you with most of the tasks you need to perform to keep your business going.

Prospecting is something you will do daily, and then you will take those names and add them into your system.

So, let’s take a another look at the 4 main steps to growing your business:

  1. Prospecting for new customers & recruits – This is something you will do every day to build your business.
  2. Getting a brochure (either paper or digital) to every customer every campaign – We use Campaign Mailer to make sure that every customer gets a brochure every campaign.
  3. Following-up with every customer you gave a brochure to every campaign before you place your order – We use Project Broadcast to text every person who received a brochure a couple of days before we place our order. If the phone number we have is a landline, we use DialMyCalls to send them a prerecorded message.
  4. Take the order, submit it to Avon and deliver to your customer, or send them to your Avon Online Store to place their order

And then Rinse and Repeat.

For more information about how to set up that system, read this post here.

Self-Improvement

Lastly, self-improvement is one of the most important income producing activities.

So, reading this blog is producing income for you right now…you’re welcome!

Anytime you’re focusing on improvement—whether it’s through watching Avon Facebook Lives and trainings, reading blogs and books, or listening to a podcast or audiobook during your commute—you’re becoming better, smarter, and quicker, which will lead to increased sales.

Just be sure that you’re doing self-improvement and learning activities during off-times, such as maybe early in the morning or later in the evening.

Even though this is very important, you don’t want it to interfere with the actual active income producing activities.

Prioritize Your Income Producing Activities

Think about everything you do in a given week (you may need to keep a log to see what you really do).

Your goal is to have as many Level 1 and Level 2 activities as possible.

Commit to eliminating or delegating as many non-Income Producing Activities as you can.

Then, focus on using all the time you’ve saved to do those activities that generate revenue and build relationships.
