The Mindset Shift That Will Change Your Avon Business
Have you struggled to find the secret to success in your Avon business?
Maybe you’ve even spent hours and hours but you just haven’t figured out what might be holding you back from the success you want.
Growing your Avon business is pretty simple.
There are only 4 main steps:
- Prospecting for new customers & recruits.
- Getting a brochure (either paper or digital) to every customer every campaign.
- Following-up with every customer you gave a brochure to every campaign before you place your order.
- Take the order, submit it to Avon and deliver to your customer, or send them to your Avon Online Store to place their order
And then Rinse and Repeat.
It’s really that simple. You just do these 4 steps over and over again, and you will have a strong Avon business.
We have our Daily 8 System to help you work on the activities that will help you grow your business.
The Daily 8 system is a proven formula
When followed consistently, the Daily 8 Plan will help you maintain the consistency required to build a thriving team and an exponentially expanding residual income.
Instead of working 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week your goal is to capture 8 POINTS a day, 5 days a week for a total of 40 POINTS per week.
Follow this plan consistently for 90-days and teach your team to do the same. At the end of 90 days, REPEAT and then REPEAT again. This is your Daily Method of operation.
The real secret to your Avon Business success is that there is NO SECRET!
It simply takes a simple plan and the dedication and commitment to WORK THE PLAN consistently! That’s it!

Today We’ll Talk About the Mindset Shift That Can Change Your Avon Business
When we look at business success, there are a lot of things that might affect the outcome, but I believe one of the most important is your mindset.
And I bet it’s not quite what you think it is.
Many of you think it’s about being afraid of hearing the Nos, or putting yourself out there, or asking for the sale.
All of these are extremely important to the success of your Avon business, for sure.
But the mindset I’m talking about is this: you joined Avon to start a business… not a side hustle.
I know… when we promote the Avon business to people we meet, we talk about the side hustle, or the glam gig, right?
And yes, Avon can definitely be that! It can be the side hustle or glam gig that helps you make a little extra on the side.
But if you’re struggling in your Avon business, I’m guessing you’re looking to make more than just a little extra on the side.
Now, I’m not saying you need to work your Avon business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
But the words you use to think about your Avon business, and your mindset about your business really do matter.
A side hustle is just that: it’s something on the side, second to the primary thing.
It’s not as important as your main job. It’s not as important as your main focus.
Pay attention to the words. Even a “part-time job” commands more respect than “side hustle.”
When you call your Avon business a side hustle, you’re telling your mind, and other people, that it’s just not that important to you. At least not as important as other things going on in your life.
Not only does this hurt your own feelings about your Avon business, it tells others that you’re not so serious about it either.
Mindset Affects Success
Remember what Henry Ford said?
“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t you’re right.”
When you consider your Avon business to be a side hustle, you unconsciously give yourself permission to not take it seriously.
And once your brain isn’t taking your business seriously, it’s surprisingly easy to start letting things slip.
You’ll start to notice that days have gone by when you haven’t even given your Avon business a thought.
And if your Avon business is truly a “side gig” and not as important to you, that’s totally okay.
It gives you a little money, when you get around to working it.
It’s not something you need to really invest in, care for, or focus on.
But if you’re looking to make money in your business, it’s critical to change your thinking around your Avon business.
Because that level of commitment you’ve given it as a “side gig” is the level of return you’ll receive.
If you don’t invest something into your business, either time or money, then you won’t get much out of your business.
It will never grow into the type of money-making business you’re looking for.
And if you’re not making money, your mind starts to tell you that it’s not smart to continue investing more into it.
See the pattern here?
Your mindset determines your expectancy.
If you expect your Avon business to make you money, then you need that mindset to start thinking about it – and calling it – a business.
How can You Shift Your Mindset?
Here are some ideas to help you make this important mindset right away.
Change how you talk to yourself about your business –
Are you growing a new business, starting a new business, or building a new future?
Then remind yourself of that.
Change your language –
Even if your intent is to just build a small business, the way you talk to others about your business to others determines how much you respect your own business.
And that determines how much they should respect it.
And that determines how often, or even if, they purchase from you.
So, choose your words wisely.
Act as If –
We’ve talked about “fake it till you make it” before. This is very similar.
You know what you want your Avon business to look like.
But it might take a little while to get it to where you want it to be.
Maybe you have other priorities, or maybe you need a little more training and studying, or maybe you just need to get into action.
But regardless, it’s never going to happen that you declare you are in business, and tomorrow you’re making tons of money.
You want to build processes into your business as though your business is as big as you already want it.
We’ve been teaching about automating some of the processes of your business such as getting brochures to everyone and following up with everyone.
These processes are what will allow us to stay up with our business even when it is huge!
You want to start them now, even if you only have one or two customers.
The same goes with your team building. We also have systems for following up with prospects. These systems grow with us as we build our team.
By treating your business as though it is a big business now, you will allow it to become as large as you want it to be.
Surround yourself with people who will elevate your mindset –
Find other successful Avon Representatives to build relationships with.
If your Avon business is still small, hang out with people who are running a bigger business, who are ahead of you, who might be smarter than you, have bigger networks than you, and inspire you.
When you hang out with people who are “better than” you, it causes you to stretch.
In fact, when Avon offers a trip incentive, do everything you can to earn it.
Every Representative who earns those trips is the best of the best, and they’re the people you want to meet and build relationships with.
There’s no better way to up your game than by hanging out with people who are already at the level you want to be at.
Always be learning, and apply your new knowledge –
There is always something new to learn in your Avon business, and anything you learn is only going to serve you in business if you apply it.
Go through all the modules in Avon U, attend every Facebook Live that Avon offers, follow this OnlineBeautyBiz Blog, attend our OnlineBeautyBiz Facebook Lives… there is so much training out there.
Take advantage of all the training you can.
But then, you have to apply it.
Every time you learn something, put it into practice as quickly as you can.
It’s only by learning and applying what you learned that you will grow in your Avon business.
Develop new habits that support your new mindset –
Schedule time in your calendar when you will be working your business, put together those systems for follow-up and marketing strategy.
The things that used to be done in “your spare time” need to be scheduled.
It doesn’t matter whether your Avon business is still small and you still have a primary job – determine how much time you will devote to your Avon business, and spend that time working it as a business.
Step out of your comfort zone –
Yes, change is difficult – even if it’s a change you want.
Chances are, making this mindset change is going to feel uncomfortable at first.
But sometimes you just need to power through it to get what you want out of life and to get you to where your business will grow.
Shift your Mindset!
The bottom line is, even if your Avon business isn’t the biggest priority in your life right now, that doesn’t mean it should be downgraded into a “side-hustle.”
In fact, if you ever want to be able to quit your day job and build your Avon business into a full-time income, you can’t afford to call it a side hustle.
Call it a small business. Call it a new business. Call it an adventure.
Call it whatever you want… but call it something important.
