Everything starts with a thought. Thoughts repeated over time become beliefs. We operate our lives from our beliefs — they run the show.

This is why having an unyielding belief in your success is a critical first step. Without it, you’ll hit a wall or become stagnant, and unable to reach your goals.

When you look at some of the most successful people in the world, such as Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, J.K. Rowling and others like them, they all have one defining trait in common.


They all possess an unwavering belief in the possibility of their success.

This may be an obvious notion, but here is the prerequisite: You must be able to consistently uphold the belief that you can, and will, succeed.

Many of the most successful people came from nothing.  Oprah was dirt poor and abused as a child.  But that didn’t stop them from believing that they too could be successful.

A steadfast belief that you can be successful requires an unyielding confidence that, regardless where you are or what has happened to you in the past, anything is possible.

Those who struggle with success are often doing so because they are straddling a fence. They have one foot on the side of possibility and the other foot on the side of “I’m not good enough.”

When you’re struggling with those types of issues, you cannot make significant progress and there is no momentum.

Your beliefs are critical to your success.

You can’t be successful until you think it is possible for you to succeed.  Until you believe that you can do it, it’s very unlikely you will.

There are 4 areas you must establish belief in right now if you want a successful Avon Business:

  • The Profession of Direct Sales
  • Avon and the Avon opportunity
  • Your Avon products
  • YOU!

This is so critically important.  Read over that again and let it really sink in.

People buy and do business with those they know, like, and trust.

Until you buy your story, nobody is going to buy from you or do business with you.

People don’t follow or do business with someone who is unclear about where they are going or what they are doing.

It is your belief in the profession of Direct Sales, Avon, your products, and YOU are what will guide you in the direction of success and accomplishment.

That’s great news because it’s something you can do something about.  You can work on building your beliefs right now!

Six ways to build beliefs

1 – Immerse yourself in success.

Your belief will grow as you do.  The more you surround yourself with positive, successful people who are supportive and encouraging, the more likely you will grow in your belief of being able to achieve success.

The things you read, watch and listen to make a dramatic difference in the way you think.

Become a sponge, a student of success in your Avon business.  Avoid negative and unsupportive people and attach yourself to those who will support you and lift you up.

2 – Actively build your knowledge and put it to use.

You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Knowledge is power,” but the truth is, it’s actually the application of the knowledge that makes all the difference.  What you know does you no good unless you’re actively applying it to your business and to your life.

Be sure that you don’t just learn, but that you immediately put what you learn into practice, today!

You’ll grow both your business and your confidence all at the same time.

3 – Collect stories.

Results help you grow your belief.  When you see someone get results from your product or in their business, it builds on your belief.

As you create results, either with your products or in your Avon business, your beliefs will take dramatic leaps forward.

Take action, work on building your business and create your story.

If you want to know if it really works, then work until you see the result and then you will know that it works.

4 – Take action daily –

It’s the little steps that you take every day  that directly contribute to growing your personal confidence and your business.

You can’t get good at something you don’t do.

Daily action, even if you don’t know everything yet, helps you to learn, earn and grow in your beliefs.

You don’t need to know everything to get started.  A lot of your learning comes as a result of you taking action immediately, and your beliefs will grow as a result of those actions.

5 – Practice –

This is probably the most important step in your business.  The successful people are successful because they practice.

If you want to get good at selling Avon and feel confident doing it, then you need to spend regular time in practice.  You can’t get good without it.

Take time to practice how you approach someone, how you invite someone to look at your brochure or at selling Avon, and how to talk to them.

Like any other type of business, if you’re serious about making money, building practice into your routine will help you quickly build skills and confidence at the same time.

6 – Regularly attend events –

The more plugged-in you are the better off you’ll be.

Events serve many purposes, including helping you to not only learn, but to be in an environment that helps you build your belief.

It’s at the events where you meet other Avon Representatives who are successful, and where you’ll gain confidence as well as lots of new Avon friends!

For this reason, RepFest is a very important event for you to be at.  Also, be sure to attend any local events happening in your area, as well as any online events and meetings.

The more events you attend, whether in person or online, the more likely you are to grow both your business and your beliefs.

Once you’ve built that belief in yourself, Avon and the Avon products, you literally become unstoppable!

That belief is so powerful!  It’s the number one thing that determines how much success you will have.
