Today We’ll Talk About How You Can Use Live Shopping To Grow Your Avon Business

When people started creating online shopping experiences, they kind of forgot 2 things.

They forgot the experiencial component to it.  So, they created online shopping experiences, but they were very transactional and very convenience driven.

People forgot the human element.

This is still people buying stuff from people.  We still want an explanation. Of course, we still want interaction. And we still want human interaction.

So, what we want to do is find a way to deliver experiences that are human, at scale, in a digital environment.

What is Social Commerce?

Avon has always been social commerce, although the digital environment is still pretty new.

We’ve always sold Avon in a person-to-person environment.

Avon Live brings the human need for social interaction.  People want to be together.  They want to explore and discover something, and they want an easy way to shop for something.

People are now spending more time online.

A lot of the things we do in our daily lives are happening in a digital environment.

Social Media has really changed the way we connect with others.

We need better ways in which we can socially interact and get that sense of belonging.

As we spend more time online, we also spend more time being entertained online.

And so, there has been a massive shift away from the commercial type of content to people feeling closer to the brands that they love through the people that they love.

User-generated visual content actually converts 5X more than professional brand content.

People want to be able to look to people that they can trust to show them which products are best for them and that if they buy that product, they will get what they’re looking for.

Avon Live helps you create this type of interaction with your customers.

Social Commerce is any environment where you have live social interaction paired with a direct path to purchase.

What is Live Streaming?

Live streaming at its core is simple someone presenting something live, in a stream, such as a makeup tutorial or something educational or entertaining.

And it’s combined with an element of social interaction, which usually happens in the live chat.

The people that are watching live can actually ask questions to the host or can simply chat with each other.

So, there’s this group dynamic where the group interacts with each other.

And during the live streaming, you can literally click on the product image and shop right there without leaving the experience.

According to Forbes, social commerce is the next big shopping revolution, forecasted to reach $1.2 Trillion.

It’s expected to hit $25 Billion in the US next year!

How Does Avon Live Shopping Help Your Business?

Avon was the first US brand to bring Live Shopping to our customers.

We are up there with Wal-Mart, Amazon, and Facebook.  They’re all going down this journey.

That’s something to be proud of!   We’re up there playing with the big guns!

Avon has been doing these Live Shopping events for about a year now.

Avon Live Shopping has brought us two major benefits:

  • Higher average order
  • Higher session duration

Since we started doing these Live Shopping Events, the average order placed by customers was $74.

The average order of a customer shopping on without Live Shopping is $57.

That means a customer who places an order coming from a Live Shopping Event is going to place an order that is $17 higher than those who did not.

That means that your Avon customer is going to spend $20 more when they engage with one of our Live events.

When it comes to the actual time spent on your Avon Online Store, the data shows that a customer will stay 2X longer on your store when they watch a Live Shopping Show.

So Live Shopping is really going to help your customers spend twice as much time just browsing your online store.

The longer your customer stays in your store, the more likely they are going to buy something.

Let’s Start With The Basics

First things, first… you need to find your personal link.

It’s super easy.

Log into  Go to the menu, click on Featured, and then Live Shopping.

Now you’re on the Live Shopping Page

Scroll down a little to where you can see the Share Your Event Link.

You can click to copy your link, or you can use the social sharing icons to share it.

That link will always stay the same, regardless of the show.  It will always be that link that you give out.

So, you can save it to a text file or somewhere so that you’ll always have it to easily text it out.

What we’ve found is that the best way to promote this is to text it out.

Everybody uses text these days, right!?

I suggest you insert a personal message with the link, for example:

“Hi Mary, I know you love lipsticks…”

Personalizing the text lets them know it’s coming from you, and that it’s not spam.

Your link will show whatever is the current Live Shopping event.

It’s important that you know what the upcoming show is so that you can personalize it for them.

What Your Customer Sees

When your customer clicks on that link, they will be tied to YOUR Avon Online Store.

Because you gave them the actual link to YOUR store, they will be connected to you.

Anybody that clicks on that link, whether they watch the show or not, they will be “cookied” to you.

This is how you will get credit for the sale and make the commission from the sale.

Your customer will also be able to see the previous and upcoming shows, where she might decide she needs to be there!

Once she registers for the show, she’ll be added to your Avon address book and will receive promotional emails from Avon.

On the day of the event, send them another text.  It’s just a little reminder because we’re all busy, and it’s easy to forget.

As the show is going on, there is a little screen that comes up with the product that they’re talking about.

It’s super easy to just click on it and Add to Cart.

And they can still see/hear the presenter.

Your Customer Places Their Order and You Get Paid!

The customer continues to watch the show and maybe even spends time browsing your site.

They place their order.

The next day, you will receive an email saying you got a new online order.  You can also see it in your dashboard.

Once their order ships and earnings are finalized, you will receive an email from Avon Wallet.

You receive a payment from Avon!

Now, you can go to your Avon Wallet and move the funds or however you have that setup.

So, all you’re doing is sending a text link out to your customers letting them know, “Hey, there’s a really cute show going on…”

They go to the show, and you get paid!

Avon Does the Heavy Lifting for You!

All you have to do is share the events.  It’s that easy!

It’s high impact, for low effort!

How Avon Live Shopping Affects Your Bottom Line

On average, customers spend $20 more after attending a Live Shopping Event.

They’re going to spend twice as much time in your store, and the more they browse around, the more they’re going to find things they want.

Let’s Look at an Example:

Say your customer places an order for $75.98.

At 25% earnings on beauty products, your commission would be $19.

Less the $8 shipping charge

Your earnings would be $11.

That’s $11 for sending one text – one customer, $11 in your pocket!

But What If You Started Using Live Shopping More Intentionally In Your Business

You share your Live Shopping on social media, you send texts and emails.

What if you can get five customers to shop from your show?

If we take our average conversion, that means you need to be sending out 15-20 text messages to get those five customers to actually shop.

So now that $11 turns into $55.

What if you could do the same thing over three shows?

Avon is producing about a show a week for your business.

Now you’re earning $165 a month additional in your pocket for just sending out some texts.

These special offers are good for 24 hours only and are not specific to the products being shown in that live event.

Your customer can buy anything in your store and still receive the free products.

You can also promote those free codes, even for people who weren’t at the show or who wouldn’t be interested in the particular products being shown.

Be sure to share out these codes so your customers can still take advantage of the coupon codes.

Bottom Line

As you’re looking for ways to incorporate these events into your business, think about your new representatives.

What an easy way for a New Representative to transition into this new way of selling.

You can show them how to find their link and how to share it with the people they know.

What a great tool for a new Representative.

The shows are also a great way to learn a little more about the products.

Once a customer clicks on your link, they are now attached to your store, and you will make money if they make a purchase.

All of the shows that are done are saved on that Live Shopping page.

So, for instance, there is a dog product show that Jonathan did recently.

If your customer has a new puppy, you can share that past show with them to help them learn more about our dog products.

Really take this seriously.
